Mandara dhaare Geetam

Mandara dhaare geetam is the simplest type of Carnatic piece composed by a well-known seventeenth-century composer Sri Paidala Gurumurthi Shastry. Most of his compositions praised Lord Rama, though he also composed on Krishna (Ex: Mandhara dhaare) and Shiva. In this geetam, the poet is praising Lord Sri Krishna. It is written in Sanskrit.

This geetam is in Aadi taLam. It consists of one Laghu and two Dhrutas.

Ragam: Kambhoji (28th meLakarta “Hari Kambhoji” janya).

Oh bearer of the mandara mountain, oh murari, who grants salvation, oh destroyer of the demon race, one whose form is sacred, whose feet have auspicious marks, who wears a peacock feather in his crown.
