Jo achyutananda
(Annamacharya Keertana)
Jo achyutananda lyrics in English with meaning: This kirtan is a very popular lullaby composed by Sri TaaLlapaaka Annamaachaarya, a great devotee of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy.
Here the Annamaachaarya is praising Lord Krishna for his greatness and his various mischievous antics and calling him to get some sleep since he is all tired because of playing.
This lullaby is written so well that only Annamacharyas can get the best of it.
Jo achyutananda – Lyrics Meaning:
Pallavi: O dear Sri Rama, Lord of cows, supreme bliss, giver of salvation, Supreme Spirit, now please stop playing, come here and get some sleep dear.
CharaNam-1: Hey my lovable colored Krishna, having come to Nanda’s house; you kept aside your dignity and divinity to tend the cows.
Instead of looking after the cows (not doing what he is supposed to), you are playing nicely in beautiful moonlike-faced gopikas houses while they are serving you.
Now enough of playing please come and sleep for some time.
CharaNam-2: You slept on the ocean of milk, and as a boy you gave protection from fear to sages, you were born to Vasudeva for the welfare of this entire world, being a boy, you became Gopalakrishna the protector of all the cows, O dear please come and sleep for some time.
CharaNam-3: This lullaby is composed and sung by TaaLlapaaka Annamaachaarya in a very beautiful and playful manner, as a matter, of all the treasure you rule; Good omen to the lovely Madanagopaala the one who is dwelling in Thirupatla.
O beloved Krishna please come and sleep for some time.

Tip:
Learn lullabies: Lullabies are sung in pavalimpu (sleeping) services. This kind of service will be done in most of the temples of Lord Venkateswara Swamy, who enjoys such services a lot.
Glorifying the lord’s greatness by Singing songs and ending with a lullaby gives great pleasure and peace to our minds. I also go to the temple near our home and sing some songs praising the lord, and I must admit that I am lucky to find such a place.
These lullabies are sung not only in temples but also in Baarasaala (naming ceremony). Children and adults also love to listen to these kinds of songs before going to sleep.
It has also been scientifically proven that listening to such songs before going to sleep leads to a deep and peaceful sleep.
A strange and funny incident was that, one day by the time I finished work and went to the bedroom; my husband was humming “Jo Achutananda” song for himself. It was too adorable and that’s when I realized that we can sing lullabies for ourselves too.
