“Kamala Sulochana” by Sri Purandara Daasa is the simplest type of Carnatic piece from the early 16th century. The piece originated in Southern India in the Vijayanagara Empire. It is a piece of religious/praise music and one of 475,000 compositions by Purandara Daasa. Kamala sulochana is a geetham (song) written in Sanskrit. In this geetam, the poet is praising the goddess Lakshmi.
This geetham is in Aadi taLam. It consists of 1 Laghu and 2 Dhrutas.
