KamalajadaLa – Geetam
KamalajadaLa geetam in English with the meaning: This geetam by Sri Purandara Dasa is the simplest type of Carnatic piece from the early 16th century.
This piece originated in Southern India in the Vijayanagara Empire. It is religious/praise music and one of 475,000 compositions by Purandara Dasa.
Purandara Dasa began composing in the 1500s after a “religious experience” and is known as the “father” of Carnatic music due to his contributions to the development of Carnatic music education and prolific compositions.
KamalajadaLa is a geetham (song) composed in the Sanskrit language.
This geetham is in Tiputa TaLa Trisra Jaati. It consists of one Laghu and two Dhrutas.

Ragam: KalyaNi (65th meLakarta ragam), it is also called MechakalyaNi.
It is a “Sampurna Raga” which means it has all seven swaras in its scale.

KamalajadaLa – Lyrics meaning:
Oh! Merciful one, you have lotus-like pure beautiful eyes! You are an ocean of mercy and have shown plenty of compassion and fulfilled the wishes of the elephant called Gajendra. Goddess Lakshmi desires you.
You slew the demons Keshi and Naraka. Are conferrers of boons and reside in the city of Belapur. You are the greatest amongst Gods.

Be patient. Trying to increase the pace of your learning beyond your current capabilities is dangerous; by doing this you can develop bad habits and even permanent injuries that impair your ability to sing in the future.
Going too fast also lends itself to more mistakes, which are harder to correct later.
