Rama laali megha shaya lali
(Sri Ramadasu Keertana)
Rama laali megha shaya lali: This’s a very popular keertana by Sri Raamadaasu detailing little Raama’s naughty actions. It is written in the Telugu language.
Kancharla Gopanna popularly known as Bhakta Raamadaasu or Bhadraachala Raamadaasu, was a 17th century devotee of Lord Sri Raama, a saint-poet and a composer of Carnatic music.
He’s a famous Vaaggeyakaara (classical composer – one who composes lyrics as well as music) from the Telugu classical era.
Raamadaasu is renowned for constructing the famous Sitaaraamachandra Swami temple and pilgrimage center on the banks of river Godavari at Bhadraachalam.
His devotional keertana lyrics to Lord Raama illustrate the classical Pallavi, Anupallavi, and CharaNam genres composed mostly in Telugu, some in Sanskrit, and with the occasional use of Tamil language.
These keertanas are famous in South Indian classical music as Sri Raamadaasu Keertanalu.
Rama laali megha shaya lali – Lyrics meaning:
Pallavi: We are singing a lullaby to the Raama who has a dark cloud color complexion, lotus petal-like eyes, the son of King Dasharatha.
CharaNam 1: Hey bloomed lotus-like-faced Rama, you are tired from playing games so please sleep until your stomachful food is digested.
CharaNam 2: While singing a lullaby by patting on your back, you listen by closing your eyes, so I have stopped by thinking that you have slept but within no time you wake up and gesture me to continue.
CharaNam 3: You became habituated to holding tightly by me, what to do these ladies cannot control their hands touching you, even with a mere touch your sensitive skin gets hurt.

Tip:
Have fun while learning music: It’s important to work on scales and techniques but keep your sessions and practices fun.
Also, from the beginning, you should aspire to sing the music that you enjoy listening to:
“Learning music that we like keeps us motivated to continue practicing”.
Pay attention to the music you listen to regularly like Genres, artists, composers, etc.
Also identify the elements that you appreciate about that music like the melodious voice of the singer, the guitar solos, the melody coming from the piano, etc.
Keep in mind that adults tend to have their musical preferences well established, while children may need to explore before deciding.
Choosing the right kind of music is the first step in keeping practice sessions entertaining.
