Sri gaNanatha - Geetam
After learning Sarali Swaralu, Janta Swaralu, Alankaralu, Hecchusthayi Swaralu, we will learn Geetalu. The first one is Sri Gananatha geetam from piLLari geetalu by Sri Purandara Dasa is a piece of Carnatic music from the early 16th century. It is a piece of religious/praise music and one of 475,000 compositions by Sri Purandara Dasa. It has written in Sanskrit.
This geetham is in Rupaka TaLa Chathurasra Jathi. It consists of one Dhruta and one Laghu.

Charanam 1:
[You have all the holy men at your feet. You are worshipped by the pramada ganas who are the followers of Lord Shiva, hey gaNesha I bow to you].
Charanam 2:
[You are the first one to receive obeisance when sitting upon acquiring any kind of knowledge. You are the greatest one of all and I pray to you].

Find a good teacher. A good teacher is always important to learn anything in a proper way and for music a teacher is essential too because this person will correct your mistakes and set a good example to follow. Treat your teacher with respect and consideration at all times, even when you are no longer learning from her/him. As I have already told you that my teacher is Mrs. Vijaya Lakshmi and I am blessed to have such a noble person as my teacher.
Instrumentalists must be sure to learn from both a vocal and instrumental teacher. From the instrumental teacher you will learn technique and from the vocal teacher how to play as though your instrument is singing the words.
