Kondalalo nelakonna lyrics in English with meaning: This is a very popular kirtan composed by Sri TaaLlapaaka Annamaachaarya, an ardent devotee of Tirumala Venkateshwara Swamy.
Here, Annamaachaarya is calling people to know the greatness of Lord Venkateshwara, who fulfils the desires of the devotees, pray to him and get his blessings.
Kondalalo nelakonna – Lyrics meaning:
Pallavi: Sri Venkateshwara Swamy, Lord of the holy Koneti (Pushkarini) of Tirumala, who resides on the mountains, fulfils our unlimited desires very easily.
CharaNam 1: Lord Venkateshwara gave all the boons asked by Kuruvaratanambi who is the potter.
Emperor of Thondamaan, who was surprised to see that Lord Venkateshwara received the potter’s clay flowers and put aside his gold flowers, got angry and went to the potter’s place to fight and became the disciple of the potter himself.
Story:
(Kuruvartanambi, who was a devotee of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy, used to make pots and sell them for a living. Due to the pressure of work, he could not go to see Swamy every day, so he wanted to worship Swamy in any way.
Every day after making the pots, he would make flowers out of the clay that sticks to his hands and worship Lord Venkateshwara with them, and Lord Venkateshwara Swamy, who was impressed by his devotion, would accept those flowers happily. Those clay flowers used to fall on the feet of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy in Tirumala.
Thondamaan Emperor used to worship the Lord with gold flowers every day, but the priests were very surprised to see that the flowers were taken aside and the earthen flowers were at the Lord’s feet. When the Thondamaan Emperor was informed about that, he came to Kuruvartanambi and became his disciple and took his apprenticeship).
CharaNam 2: He helped AnantaaLuvaaru, who was determined to dig a big pond with a strong desire, by carrying soil without expecting any reward.
It was Sri Venkateshwara Swamy, who came to Tirumalanambi and got his daily pooja.
Story-1:
(AnantaaLuvaaru was a devotee who performed beautiful flower garlands kainkaryam (service to the Lord) to Sri Venkateshwara Swamy in Tirumala on the orders of Bhagavadraamaanuja.
Wanting to grow a flower garden to offer to his Lord flower garlands Kainkaryam, started to dig a big pond, he undertook to dig that pond with only himself and his wife who was heavily pregnant without the help of anyone else.
While he digs the soil with a crowbar and gives it with a soil-carrying basket, his wife throws the soil far away. Seeing that situation, Sri Venkateshwara Swamy appeared in the form of a twelve-year-old boy and helped him to sweep away the mud.
Knowing this from his wife, AnantaaLuvaru threw the crowbar in his hand at the boy who was sharing work in Swamy’s Kainkaryam in anger. It touches the boy’s chin and bleeds.
The boy goes to Anandanilayam and hides from being seen. The priests are surprised to see the bleeding coming from Swamy’s chin and tell the matter to AnantaaLuvaaru. Then AnantaaLuvaaru realizes what has happened.
Priests apply pacha camphor (green-camphor) on the wound. Therefore, even today it is customary to apply pacha camphor on the Chin of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy.
The crowbar used by AnantaaLuvaaru to beat Swamy is still hangs inside the mahadwara of Swamy’s temple in Tirumala.)
Story-2:
(Tirumalanambi was a devotee who performed abhisheka kainkaryam (service to the Lord) to Sri Venkateshwara Swamy.
Tirumalanambi recited the Ramayana to Sri Raamaanuja for a year under a tamarind tree in Tirumala Tirupati. At that time Tirumalanambi was saddened to miss the midday puja of his Lord.
Seeing his suffering, Swamy blessed his footprints at that place. They used to worship them every day. Later these feet were reserved for the worship of the Harijans).
CharaNam 3: He took pity on a devotee named Tirukachchinambi living in Kanchi and brought him to him.
Lord Venkateshwara Swamy, beyond all praise, protects us with good grace.
Story:
(Tirukachchinambi was a devotee who came to Tirumala from Kanchi. He used to do Chamara (hand fan) Kainkaryam (service to God) to Varadaraaja Swamy in Kanchi. A great man who could talk to his Lord directly. He told the secrets of God to Sri Raamaanuja. Varadaraajaashtakam was written by him. (Kachchi = Kanchi, Nambi = Believer, Devotee) Lord Venkateswara made Tirukachchinambi to come to Tirumala twice).
